Dawakhana
Dawakhana is an Urdu word made up of two words - Dawa (medicine) and Khana (place of). Dawakhana is therefore, strictly speaking, a pharmacy. But no pharmacy is complete without correct diagnosis of the disease. For which, there is a Hakim at every dawakhana.
The Faiz Dawakhana is a 53 year old clinic established by Hakim Hafeez-ur-Rehman in the year 1960. He was also instrumental in helping Hamdard establish India's first Unani medicine manufacturing plant and was also the in charge of the board of physicians at Hamdard. The tradition started by the father has been continued by his able successor - his son, Adil Hafeez.
Located in the obscure lanes of Kucha Rehman, Chandni Chowk, Old Delhi, Faiz Dawakhana may not be so easy to access, but that has not prevented people from all walks of life and from near and far (even outside India) to consult Hakim Adil Hafeez and avail the benefits of Unani medicine.
The Dawakhana timings are as follows:
10:00 am - 2:00 pm
5:00 pm - 8:00 pm
The Dawakhana remains closed on all Sundays and National holidays and on days when Eid is celebrated (the schedule of which is put up well in advance)
All medicines prescribed and sold at the clinic are prepared, mixed and hand packed by the expert pharmacists at the Dawakhana to ensure no adulteration and so that the freshness of the herbs is always maintained.
We also offer patients the flexibility to order their repeat doses online or through phone subject to receipt of online payment prior to the dispatch of the medicines. (Such orders incur an additional nominal courier and handling charges) For further details, please Contact Us
